About

Vietnam is approximately 331,688 sq km. The S, long shape country, broad in the north and south and very narrow in the centre, where one point is only 50km wide has 3451km of coastline and 3818km of land borders. The northern part mainly consists of highlands. Mount Fansipan at 3,143m is the highest mountain in Vietnam.

Vietnam was under Chinese control before the 10th century before several dynasties took over until the French occuppied in the mid 19th century. The resistance against French eventually led to the country divided in North & South Vietnam. The battle between North & South continue until 1975, where ending with a communist victory.

In mid 80's, the country begin to develops. By 2000, it had established diplomatic relations with most nations. Tourism has pick up since then. Both Halong Bay & Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park being awarded as the World's Natural Heritage Site.

Where is

Vietnam is the located on the Indochina Peninsula in South East Asia. It is bordered by China on the north, Laos on the northwest, Cambodia on the southwest and the South China Sea on the east.

How to get there

Getting into Vietnam by air is the most commonly used, although you can used one of the overland crossing from China, Laos and Cambodia. There are 3 international airport: Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, Danang International Airport & Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Several airlines (Vietnam Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Air Asia, Thai Airways, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific) offer direct link to Vietnam.
