Taman Negara National Park was established in Malaysia in 1938/1939 as the King George V National Park. It was renamed to Taman Negara after independence, which literally means "national park" in Malay. Taman Negara (total area 4,343 km²) has a reputation as the world's oldest tropical rainforest. Estimated about 130 million years old.

Some of the attraction here are Night Walk, Canopy Walk, Visit Orang Asli Village, Rapid Shooting, Trek up Teresek Hill or simply relaxing at Lubuk Simpon.

Where is

Taman Negara cover three states, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, each with its own legislation. Taman Negara Pahang is the largest at 2,477 km², followed by Taman Negara Kelantan at 1,043 km² and Taman Negara Terengganu at 853 km². [click here for map]

How to get there

From Kuala Lumpur take the East Coast Expressway towards Temerloh. Exit at Temerloh ( about 2 hours drive ) head north to Jerantut town (45 minute drive). At the junction to Jerantut town ( there is a big mosque on the right ), take the right turn and follow the Taman Negara sign to Kuala Tahan. It take another 50 minute drive (70 kilometers) to Kuala Tahan.
