Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving is an activity swim underwater using SCUBA (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus) equipment. By carrying breathing gas, normally compressed air, the divers can stay longer underwater, a mask to protect our eyes and provide good vision, a fins for moving underwater, wetsuit to protect from body losing heat. Both wetsuit and weight belt also control the divers bouyancy. While others more advanced gears like compass are use for navigation, dive knife to released entangerment and sosage for spotting the divers location on the sea surface.

To be come a divers, one have to be at least certified as Open Water Divers. The most common certification are PADI, NAUI and SSI. Many dive operators provide these certification.

Like others outdoor activities, diving have its own risk too, like changes in the air pressure, decompression sickness and nitrogen narcosis. However with proper training and new technology, the risk are reduce.

Some of the popular dive sites in Malaysia are Sipadan Island, Tioman Island, Redang Island,Tenggol Island and Perhentian Island.


Snorkeling

Snorkeling is a popular recreational activity that swim at the surface of the water while equipped with a diving mask, snorkel (for breathing), life jacket (for floating) and a fin. With these equipment, snorkeler can observe underwater attractions easily. The main attractions may include coral reefs, sea turtle and various of coral fish.

Snorkeling does not required special training. As long you know how to kick with fins you be able to join a snorkeling trips. Most of the snorkeling location are calm water, swallow end or within the bay.
